Licensed Professional Counselor
James Romo is a Licensed Professional Counselor, he is the program director for IOP who brings warmth, compassion, and a strong sense of connection to his work with clients. With a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University, James has experience working with a wide range of individuals, including college students, adults navigating life transitions, and those managing more complex challenges like severe mental illness or addiction. James believes in creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel truly heard. His approach is flexible and down-to-earth, always focused on helping people build practical tools for coping and growth. Over the years, he has led individual, group, and family counseling sessions in a variety of settings from community mental health centers to addiction treatment programs and even high-pressure corporate environments. Outside of his counseling work, James is also active in his faith community, where he serves as a worship leader. Whether he's playing guitar, connecting with others, or spending time outdoors, he brings the same genuine care and attentiveness to every part of his life. At Graceland Psychiatry, James is excited to walk alongside clients as they explore their goals, overcome challenges, and build lives that feel more balanced and fulfilling.
